It was a tough top of the table clash tonight as we drew 1-1 with Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
In the 15th minute Baroka capitalised after clearing the ball from an Arrows corner. An error from Gumede, fumbling the ball after coming out of the box in defence, gave the home side the opening goal as Moeti made no mistake to convert the error into score.
We battled defensively, and narrowly escaped the home side scoring again after another error from Gumede. This seemed to shake up the defence, and later Mzava had to clear the ball off the line to deny the hosts again.
Our attacking plays were not strong in the first half, and when we played into the last third, strong defending from the home side and our poor finishing saw us go into the break a goal down.
The second half was more composed from us. Coming out of the break, the team began to settle more. We made a change 10 minutes in with Jappie and Shongwe coming onto the park. This made a difference and it was in the 75th minute that Shongwe made a pass to Mutizwa who fed Magubane on the left. The youngster had a shot at goal and found the back of the net, giving us our equaliser.
Baroka had a chance to take the lead from a free kick on the edge of the box after a foul from Jappie, but Lamola cleared the ball, maintaining the draw.
Both teams remain unbeaten so far, but the result sees the teams sharing the points in the competition.
We return home to face Polokwane City on Saturday at Princess Magogo Stadium.
We would like to fill the stadium and encourage our home support to come in numbers at 15h30 as we continue our 2017/18 campaign.
