Our Diski boys have beaten Ajax Cape Town 2-1 this morning in their Multichoice Diski match at King Zwelithini Stadium.
We came onto the park, determined for a win, this was evident through the creative use of ball posession that saw a number of shots at goal. However, February had a lucky day and somehow managed to keep the ball out of the net for the visitors. Ajax however were awarded a penaly in the 30th minute after S.Parusnath took an opposition player down in the box. Phohlongo took the kick for Ajax and placed it well in the bottom right of the goals, giving them the lead.
Our youngsters fought back and continued putting pressure on the Ajax keeper. We were awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute for a handball in the box by Ajax and Fikizolo made no mistake in claiming the equaliser.
The second half started at a slower tempo, both us and the visitors seemed hesitant to attack, weighing each other up and trying to determine how game plans had changed.
The side then turned the game, again attacking the Ajax goals from both sides, playing calculated plays to create opportunities. This saw them being awarded a set piece and it was off a corner that Fikizolo got his brace from a header.
Ajax were determined to score again, and they fought back hard in the last 20 minutes, but were denied the opportunity to equalise.
The team will play again only on the 13th November when they face Mamelodi Sundowns away at Makhulong Stadium.
