We have walked away with 3 points in the MDC clash of Champions at the Princess Magogo Stadium this morning.
It was Masandwana who opened the scoring in the 17th minute off a free kick. The opening minutes had been non eventful for both teams who were both feeling each other out. The free kick was the opportunity the visitors had been wanting and a well placed dipping ball was headered in to give them a lead going into the break.
Sundowns continued putting pressure on us as we allowed them too much space on the counter which created pressure for our defence. We had a number of good attacking plays, with Conco playing well in the middle, creating chances but our finishing in the first half was just not there.
After returning to the field, Sundowns again applied pressure, But we consolidated ourselves and after gaining confidence started spreading the ball wide and getting clean passes into the box.
The pressure was too much for Sundowns and we got our first goal after Sibeko was bought down in the box. Jappie placed the ball and converted the penalty well in the bottom right of the goals.
This encouragement was a great booster for the side. We extended our lead in the 69th minute off the boot of Ndwandwe who was played a great ball from the left and made no mistake in his mark.
Just 10 minute later Jappie got his brace as Sibeko played him a great ball in the box and he too planned his shot well and furthered the lead for the team.
A well fought effort from the side this morning and a well deserved 3 points.
The side now have just under a week to prepare for another home game against Free State Stars on Saturday at 12h00
