We suffered our first loss in the ABSA Premiership tonight againt SuperSport United.
It was an action packed first half at Mbombela Stadium. A high paced 10 minutes saw the sides in an end to end battle with both teams looking to force the errors and score. We were unlucky in the 16th minute as Mutizwa needed only to chip the ball over Williams to score, but he struck it to hard and pushed it over the bar.
SuperSport played well to force the errors in defence allowing Letsholonyane to open the scoring in the 24th minute off a chipped cross from Brockie.
The pace of the game never let up and we had a number of good chances to pull one back, but could just not nail the finishing to find the back of the net.
Modiba then scored the second for the home side as Gumede spilled a header from Grobler, and the ball fell favourably for Modiba who nudged it in to give the home side a 2 goal lead going into the break.
We made a tactical change in the break, bringing in Chideu on to try and bolster the attack up front. He had a brief impact, breaking the defence and creating gaps. But his stay was short lived as he was replaced with a lower back injury.
The hosts increased their lead in the 53rd minute with Modiba getting his brace and putting them in a promising position. We fought for the full 90 minutes and the never-give-up attitude of the team shone through with us trying to pull one back until the last minute.
We never created enough clear cut chances, and failed to capitalise on the opportunities we had in the game that can not be judged in performance by the scoreline.
We will have a break now until Tuesday 21st November when we return to the Orlando to take on Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium.
