In yet another nail biting game tonight, we have shared the points with Cape Town City after failing to hold on to a 2 goal lead. The team looked confident on the field in both halves, but the visitors kept the pressure on to fight for the draw.
After a slow staring first half. The players found some good rhythm. They attacked well against Cape Town City, looking at scoring from any angle possible. The defence of the visitors held strong and they managed to counter well, keeping us on our toes in defence.
We managed to get our breakthrough in the 38th minute with a well timed switch to Magubane, who had time on the ball and lined his shot up and chipped it past Stephens to give us the lead.
We took to the changerooms in a positive position and returned for the second half and played with confidence.
We looked good on field against an ever attacking City side and we managed to defend well when they came at us. We scored again in the 67th minute off a well placed corner. The ball was favourable for Shongwe who made no mistake to find the back of the net.
Cape Town City then just seemed to increase the attack. They pressurized us in the last third and their persistence paid off as Mkhize was bought down in the box by Mzava. A penalty was awarded and converted by Lakay, bringing the visitors back into the game.
They kept the pressure on and had a number of opportunities to score. Gumede and the team did well to fend off the attack twice, but a deflected shot in the 88th minute clinched the equaliser for the visitors.
We have a short break again and return to the field on the 6th December when we take on Free State Stars at Goble Park.
